1. Curb appeal.

Paint the front door a bright but neutral color, and add some simple potted plants. Clean up the surrounding gardens by adding new mulch and pulling out weeds. Replace and paint any damaged or hanging shutters.

2. Give the most used rooms a refresh

Update the kitchen and bathrooms  with a new coat of paint, switching out counter tops and vanities, and keep them as clear as possible. Store less used items in cabinets and add new rugs or bath mats with a neutral color.

3. Lighting and Windows.

Start with making sure that all window treatments are the same. Different blinds or shades can turn off potential buyers. If there is ample natural sunlight, use it! Update older light fixtures to match the style of the rest of the home, (Modern, rustic, traditional, etc.) and replace old bulbs with brighter energy efficient ones.
